David Coetzer
Player Bio
Davy Coetzer is one of Major League Rugby’s most consistent fly-halves and a proven points scorer. Born in Pretoria, South Africa, he developed through the University of Pretoria and Blue Bulls pathway before beginning his professional career.
Coetzer spent four seasons with the Houston SaberCats, where he became one of the league’s top playmakers. Across 50 starts, he recorded 358 career points, 18 tries, and over 2,600 meters gained. His ability to control matches, manage tempo, and deliver under pressure has made him one of the most reliable 10s in MLR.
Known for his kicking accuracy and game management, Coetzer consistently ranks among the league leaders in scoring. He earned All-MLR Second XV honors in 2023 and Honorable Mention in 2024, highlighting his impact across multiple seasons.
Coetzer brings structure, composure, and attacking vision to the Seawolves. He joins the club for the 2026 season ready to lead the backline and contribute to a high-performing group.
